Abstract: The statistical book presents data characterising the state of transport and communications in the Republic of Belarus in 2011 as compared with previous years. Statistical data on main indicators are provided in a breakdown by regions and Minsk City, thus, allowing for comparing and getting an insight into development of country’s regions. Information on main socio-economic indicators of transport and communications, investment, manufacture, exports and imports of transport vehicles and means of communications, finances and tariffs is included. Data on freight and passenger transportation by each mode of transport, financial results of transport activities and length of motor roads as well as data on transport accidence are provided. Data on international comparisons of the Republic of Belarus with the CIS countries and foreign countries are given in a separate chapter. Statistical indicators are provided with brief methodological explanations; charts and diagrams are also presented. Data on selected indicators were revised as compared with previously published data. Data for 2011 are subject to further revision. The statistical book is prepared by the Main Department of Services and Demographic Statistics with the envolvement of other subdivisions of National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus and is intended for a wide range of users
