Historical milestones of the development of Belarusian statistics

1918

By the Decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic of September 3, 1918 provincial statistical divisions were re-organized into provincial statistical bureaus.

1920

By the Resolution of the Military and Revolutionary Committee of Byelorussia of August 23, 1920 the Central Statistical Bureau was established.

1924

By the Resolution of the 3d session of the sixth Central Executive Committee of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic the Act on State Statistics of BSSR was approved. The Central Statistical Bureau of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic was re-formed into the Central Statistical Office of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (CSO BSSR).

1930

By the Resolutions of the Central Executive Committee and the Council of People’s Commissars of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic of February 27, 1930 the Central Statistical Office was abolished. Its functions and central office were transferred to the State Planning  Commission to the Council of people’s Commissars of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.

1932

By the Resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR of March 10, 1932 the Department of National Accounting to the State Planning Commission of BSSR was established.

1933

By the Resolution of the Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic of June 22, 1933 the Department of National Accounting to the State Planning Commission of BSSR was re-organized into the Department of National Accounting of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.

1948

By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of August 11, 1948 No. 3018 the Department of National Accounting to the State Planning Committee of the BSSR was re-formed into the Statistical Office to the Council of Ministers of the BSSR (SO BSSR).

1960

By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of January 11, 1960 the Statistical Office to the Council of Ministers of the BSSR (SO BSSR) was re-organized into the Central Statistical Office to the Council of Ministers of the BSSR (CSO BSSR).

1987

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR of August 12, 1987 No. 1652-1 the CSO BSSR was re-organized into the union-republic State Committee of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic on Statistics.

1990

By the Resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR of July 18, 1990 the State Committee of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic on Statistics was re-named into the State Committee of the BSSR on Statistics and Analysis.

1994

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of September 23, 1994 the State Committee of the BSSR on Statistics and Analysis was re-formed into the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis of the Republic of Belarus.

2008

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of August 26, 2008 No. 445 the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis of the Republic of Belarus was re-organized into the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
