Press release "Activities of private farms in the Republic of Belarus in 2024"

At the beginning of 2025, there were 3796 active private farms in the country. In 2021-2024 their number increased by 334 farms, or by 9.6%.

In 2024, private farms utilised 318.1 thsd hectares of agricultural land, of which 220.1 thsd hectares of arable land. Compared with 2020, agricultural land of private farms has increased by 28.6% and arable land by 29%.

The agricultural production of private farms in 2024 in constant prices increased by 25.2%, with crop production up by 25.2% and animal production up by 21.1%, compared with 2020.

The share of private farms in total agricultural production has also increased. In 2024 it was 2.9% (2.5% in 2020).

The main agricultural activity of the majority of private farms is crop production, which accounts for over 90% of the total farmers’ output.

In 2024, private farms harvested 331.5 thsd tonnes of grains and legumes crops (4% of total republican volume), 422.4 thsd tonnes of potatoes (13.6%), 413.8 thsd tonnes of vegetables (14.9%), 107.8 thsd tonnes of sugar beet (2.2%), and 50.7 thsd tonnes of rape (4.9%).

In the total animal production, the share of private farms remains insignificant. For example, in 2024 the sales of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) in the republic were 10.6 thsd tonnes (0.6% of total republican volume), milk production – 50.9 thsd tonnes (0.6%). The contribution of farms to wool production is more significant at 10.4 tonnes (12.3%).
