Press release "Current expenditure on environmental protection in the Republic of Belarus in 2024"

In 2024 current expenditure on environmental protection of organizations were BYN 1 157.1 million or 104.3% at constant prices of 2023.

The structure of current expenditure on environmental protection shows that the biggest share is spent on wastewater management – 45.5% (BYN 526 million), on waste management – 28.2% (BYN 326.1 million), and on protection of ambient air and climate – 22.4% (BYN 258.9 million).

The main volume of the total current expenditure on environmental protection traditionally falls on the manufacturing sector (53.8%), water supply, waste management and remediation activities sector (25.8%) as well as electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning supply sector (12.6%).

In 2024 the biggest amounts of funds on environmental protection were spent by organizations of Gomel (BYN 313.4 million, or 27.1% of the total current expenditure in the country), Vitebsk (BYN 188.8 million, or 16.3%) and Minsk (BYN 180.2 million, or 15.6%) regions.
