Internet globalization, increasing value of data, emergence of new types of products and services have become the main conditions for development of any state regardless of territoriality, resource base, economic and scientific-technical potential.
It is impossible to determine the level of development and depth of penetration of information and communication technologies in the economy and social sphere of a country without a qualitative assessment based on official statistical information.
Belstat has developed a system of national statistical indicators for the development of the digital economy in the Republic of Belarus, which contains 35 indicators grouped into five blocks:
“Digitalization of the economy” reflects the performance of organizations in the ICT sector, content and media sector, digital trade;
“Infrastructure of digital development” characterizes the development of national information and communication infrastructure, as well as services provided on its basis;
“Digital development of public administration” represented by the indicator “number of electronic services provided and administrative procedures through UAIS”;
“Use of digital technologies by the population and organizations” characterizes the transformation of business processes through ICT in modern society;
“Digital transformation” reflects the number of ICT research, development and patents.
The evaluation of individual indicators was carried out in accordance with the collected groups on economic activities “Information and communication technologies sector”, “Content and media sector” and “Digital trade”.
The information base is state statistical observations on ICT use in organizations, computer production, software and service delivery in these areas, Household sample survey data on ICT access and administrative data.
