The National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus held a meeting between the Chairperson Inna Medvedeva and the Director of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) in the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Ermolovich, and the head of the UNFPA office in the Republic of Belarus, Olga Atroshenko.
The main topic of discussion was the preparation for the 2030 census round. Emphasis was placed on the application of newest approaches and technologies in census preparation and conduct.
Inna Medvedeva stressed the importance of international cooperation in the process of preparing for the census. She noted that the combination of the efforts of Belstat, EDB and UNFPA would make it possible to conduct a census at a high professional level and obtain the quality data required for the Republic of Belarus.
The Parties agreed to continue consultations and work together on all key issues related to the preparation of the 2030 census round.
The census is an essential source of information on the demographic situation in a country, socio-economic characteristics of the population, housing conditions and other key indicators. The data obtained serve as a basis for public policy formulation, regional development planning and management decision-making at all levels.
