The National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus held a meeting between the Chairperson Inna Medvedeva and UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus Rasul Baghirov.
The parties discussed issues of monitoring and evaluation of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Belarus, as well as implementation of the activities of the Framework Program for Cooperation between the United Nations and Belarus in the field of sustainable development for 2026-2030 years.
Inna Medvedeva spoke about the annual assessment of progress made by the Republic of Belarus in achieving the SDGs. "According to national calculations, 82.3% of the SDG indicators show significant progress and high performance, while according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Report, there is a slowdown in progress at the global level, and this figure is only 35%. Such a difference emphasizes the effectiveness of state policy", noted Inna Medvedeva.
Rasul Baghirov noted that Belarus occupies high positions in international rankings for achieving the SDGs. He confirmed the readiness of the UN system to provide comprehensive assistance in implementing measures to achieve the SDGs in the Republic of Belarus.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus emphasized that monitoring of the implementation of the Framework Program requires statistical support, with Belstat playing a key role.
The participants of the meeting expressed confidence that national strategies and the new Framework Program form a common vector for achieving sustainable development in the Republic of Belarus.
As a result of the dialogue, the parties outlined particular steps to implement joint initiatives for the years 2026-2030, affirming their willingness to further expand the partnership aimed at maintaining the high pace of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
