The First Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of Republic of Belarus Tsimafei Zhyharau took part in the 76th meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of CIS member states, which was held on 1 October 2026 in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia).
Heads of national statistical services discussed priorities for cooperation in statistics. One of the key issues on the agenda was the consideration of the implementation of the "CIS statistics development" project, which aims to promote statistical improvement in the CIS countries in terms of methodological, technological and institutional solutions.
Special attention was paid to the progress of international comparisons on the basis of purchasing power parity of currencies in the CIS region, work on the development of the system of national accounts in the CIS region, as well as the dissemination of knowledge on modern statistics methodology and technology to producers and users of statistics.
At the end of the meeting, the work programme of the Inter-state Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2027 was approved, aimed at developing cooperation between statistical services in the field of methodological and analytical work, information and publishing activities, exchange of experience and international cooperation.
The decisions taken at the meeting will further improve statistics in the CIS area and strengthen cooperation in this field.
