Joint approaches to the development of statistics were discussed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State Offices of CIS member States

The Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Inna Medvedeva, participated in the 73rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State Offices of member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, held in Baku (Azerbaijan). Heads of statistical offices from the region discussed current areas of cooperation in statistics.

One of the key issues on the agenda was the implementation of the project "Development of CIS statistics", whose main areas are: development of statistical methodology and analysis, digitization of statistics and use of alternative data sources, one professional statistical community ‒ producers, researchers, experts, teachers.

The Parties considered preparations for the 2030 round of population censuses in the region. The statistical offices of the CIS countries supported the proposal to prepare a draft decision of the Council of Heads of States of the CIS on the conduct of the 2030 round of population censuses in the CIS participating states as close as possible to 2030. It is also noted that the harmonization of the list of issues for harmonized measurement of employment and unemployment, as well as the volume and direction of labour movement among the countries of the Commonwealth region, would be useful. The implementation of these proposals will enable CIS member States to obtain comparable information between States.
