Belstat’s experience in preparation for the 2030 round of census presented at the meeting of statistical offices of CIS countries

In Moscow, there is a meeting of specialists of the national statistical offices of the CIS member states on "Preparation for censuses in the CIS region round 2030". An event organized by the CIS Statistical Committee with the support of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation brought together representatives of national statistical offices of countries of the Commonwealth, as well as experts from international organizations.

The Republic of Belarus is represented at the meeting by a delegation from the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, headed by the Deputy Chairperson Zhanna Vasilevskaya.



Belarusian statisticians presented experiences and conclusions about the past census of the Republic of Belarus in 2019, as well as approaches to digital transformation of statistical processes in preparation for the census in 2029.

Zanna Vasilyevskaya in her speech noted the successful experience of conducting the 2019 census:

"The experience we have gained in preparing and conducting the 2019 census allows us to apply the knowledge acquired to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of the preparation of the subsequent census. Preparations for the 2030 round of population censuses already include improving the legislative framework, introducing modern digital solutions, expanding the use of administrative data sources, developing the Internet census, as well as the application of artificial intelligence technologies for automation of information processing and analysis processes".

The Head of the Demographic Statistics and Population Census Department, Irina Bichan showed the presentation "Census of the Republic of Belarus 2030 round: on the way to digital transformation".

The Belarusian experience was of interest to participants in the meeting as an example of a systematic approach to digitization of national statistics and preparation for a new round of censuses.
