Demographic situation in January-March 2013

 

 

The number of population in the Republic of Belarus as of 1 April 2013 was 9 460,7 thousand, thus having reduced by 3,1 thousand persons as compared with the beginning of the year of the current year.

The number of children born in the country in January-March 2013 was 28 051, which is 1 024 children more than in January-March 2012, while the number of deaths was 33 617, or 840 more. The natural decrease was equal to 5 566 persons.

In January-March 2013 as compared with January-March 2012, the number of registered marriages increased by 49,4%, the number of divorces decreased by 9,5%. In January-March 2013 there were 530 divorces per 1000 registered marriages, with 875 divorces in January-March 2012 accordingly.

In January-March 2013 as compared with January-March 2012 migration gain increased by 45,1% and was 2 418 persons. Positive balance of migration reduced natural decrease by 43,4% (in January-March 2012 – by 29%).
