On demographic situation
in January-December 2009
According to provisional data (based on current statistics and taking into account preliminary results of the 2009 population census) at January 1, 2010 the population size of the Republic of Belarus was 9480,2 thsd. meaning a decrease by 13 thsd. in 2009.

There were 109,8 thsd. births registered in 2009 meaning an increase by 1,9 thsd. persons as compared with 2008. 135,1 thsd. deaths were registered in 2009 meaning an increase by 1,2 thsd. persons.
As compared with 2008, the number of registered marriages in 2009 increased by 2,1% while the number of divorces decreased by 4,4%.
19892 immigrants and 7643 emigrants were registered in 2009 with net migration making 12249 persons.
